Keon Johnson is an American professional basketball player who currently plays as a guard for the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA. Born on March 10, 2002, in Shelbyville, Tennessee, Johnson stands 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 185 pounds.

Early Life and Education

Johnson attended The Webb School in Bell Buckle, Tennessee, where he had a standout high school basketball career. He was named Division II-A Tennessee Mr. Basketball twice, in 2018 and 2019, and was recognized as a five-star recruit. He committed to the University of Tennessee in August 2019. ​

College Career

During his freshman year at Tennessee in the 2020–2021 season, Johnson averaged 11.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. He was named to the Southeastern Conference (SEC) All-Freshman Team and declared for the 2021 NBA Draft after the season. ​

Professional Career

Johnson was selected by the New York Knicks with the 21st overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft but was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. He signed his rookie contract with the Clippers in August 2021 and played 15 games in his rookie season.

In February 2022, Johnson was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers, where he had a more prominent role. He achieved career-high performances, including a 20-point game against the San Antonio Spurs in April 2022. He re-signed with the Trail Blazers in July 2022. ​

In September 2023, Johnson was traded to the Phoenix Suns but was waived before the season began. He signed a two-way contract with the Brooklyn Nets in November 2023 and secured a multi-year deal in July 2024. ​

Recent Performance

Johnson has taken advantage of increased playing time due to team injuries. In a game against the Atlanta Hawks in March 2025, he scored 22 points, with 17 coming in the second half, contributing significantly to the Nets’ victory. ​

As of March 2025, Johnson is averaging 10.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game for the season, with a field goal percentage of 37.9%.

Personal Life

Johnson’s mother, Conswella Sparrow Johnson, was a two-time Class AAA Tennessee Miss Basketball and played college basketball at Auburn University, where she earned All-SEC honors.
