Lynsi Snyder is an American billionaire businesswoman, best known as the owner and president of In-N-Out Burger, a popular West Coast fast-food chain founded by her grandparents, Harry and Esther Snyder, in 1948.
Born on May 5, 1982, in San Dimas, California, she is the only child of Lynda and H. Guy Snyder.
Snyder’s journey with In-N-Out began at the age of 17 when she worked incognito at one of the company’s outlets, performing tasks like leafing lettuce, peeling potatoes, and slicing onions. Her identity as the heiress was unknown to her coworkers, as she wished to be treated “normally.”
In 2010, at the age of 27, she became the sixth president of In-N-Out, succeeding her brother-in-law, Mark Taylor.
By her 35th birthday in 2017, she had gained full control of the company, becoming one of the youngest female billionaires in the United States.
Under Snyder’s leadership, In-N-Out has seen significant growth, expanding from fewer than 250 locations to 400 as of December 2023, operating across eight states. She is committed to maintaining the company’s family legacy and has pledged never to sell or franchise the business.
As of March 2025, her net worth is estimated at $7.3 billion.
Beyond her business endeavors, Snyder is actively involved in philanthropy. She co-founded the Slave 2 Nothing foundation with her husband, Sean Ellingson, in 2016, aiming to combat human trafficking and assist individuals and families in overcoming substance addiction. She also serves as the president of the In-N-Out Burger Foundation, which supports abused and neglected children.
Snyder’s personal life has been marked by resilience. She has faced the loss of close family members and has been open about her past struggles with alcohol and marijuana. A devout Christian, she has found stability through her faith and dedication to her family’s business.
In 2023, Snyder published her first book, “The Ins-N-Outs of In-N-Out Burger: The Inside Story of California’s First Drive-Through and How it Became a Beloved Cultural Icon,” which became a USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestseller.
