Macy’s has announced plans to close 66 stores in 2025 as part of its “Bold New Chapter” strategy, aiming to return to sustainable, profitable sales growth by closing approximately 150 underperforming stores over a three-year period ending in 2026.
The closures are attributed to factors such as declining sales, shifting consumer behavior, and the increasing preference for online shopping. While a complete list of affected locations has not been fully disclosed, some notable closures include the iconic downtown Los Angeles store on Broadway Plaza and the Brooklyn store at 422 Fulton Street.
These store closures are part of a broader trend in the retail industry, with over 2,500 stores expected to close across the U.S. in 2025.
