marquette university

Marquette University is a private Catholic institution located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Established in 1881, it was named after 17th-century missionary and explorer Father Jacques Marquette.

The university offers a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate programs across various disciplines, including liberal arts, business, communication, education, engineering, law, and health sciences. Marquette is also recognized for its commitment to research and community service.

In recent developments, Dr. Kimo Ah Yun was appointed as Marquette’s 25th president in November 2024. Having joined the university in 2016, Dr. Ah Yun previously served as the dean of the Diederich College of Communication and later as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs.

He succeeds Dr. Michael Lovell, who passed away in June 2024 after battling cancer.

Marquette’s athletic teams, known as the Golden Eagles, compete in NCAA Division I sports and are members of the Big East Conference. The men’s basketball team, in particular, has garnered respect from peers, including UConn men’s basketball coach Dan Hurley, who praised their player development and competitive spirit.
