Matt Weiss, 42, formerly served as the quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator for the Michigan Wolverines football team. Prior to joining Michigan in 2021, he spent over a decade with the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL. On March 20, 2025, Weiss was federally indicted on charges of unauthorized computer access and identity theft.
The indictment alleges that from 2015 to 2023, he hacked into the accounts of thousands of college athletes, primarily targeting female student-athletes to obtain intimate photos and videos.
Weiss is charged with 14 counts of unauthorized computer access and 10 counts of aggravated identity theft. If convicted, he faces significant prison time. The case has drawn national attention due to the severity of the allegations and Weiss’s prominent position in collegiate and professional football.
Following the indictment, Michigan terminated Weiss’s employment in January 2023 after he failed to cooperate with the university’s internal investigation.
