The McNeese Cowboys men’s basketball team, representing McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana, has experienced significant success in recent years. Under the leadership of head coach Will Wade, the team clinched the Southland Conference regular-season title in the 2024–25 season with a 19–1 conference record.

Their impressive performance continued in the Southland Conference tournament, where they emerged victorious, securing their fourth conference tournament championship. In the championship game on March 12, 2025, McNeese defeated Lamar University 63–54, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament.

This victory marked McNeese’s first NCAA tournament appearance since 2002. In their opening game, they faced Gonzaga University but fell 65–86.

Throughout the season, the Cowboys were recognized for their excellence, with players like Christian Shumate, Quadir Copeland, and Joe Charles earning preseason All-Conference honors.

Looking ahead, the McNeese Cowboys are set to participate in the 2025–26 NCAA Division I men’s basketball season, aiming to build on their recent achievements and continue their competitive legacy.
