“Naked and Afraid” is an American reality television series that premiered on the Discovery Channel in 2013. The show features two survivalists—one man and one woman—who meet for the first time and are challenged to survive in a remote wilderness location without clothing for 21 days. Each participant is allowed to bring one useful item, such as a machete or fire starter. Throughout the experience, they must collaborate to build shelter, find food and water, and navigate the challenges of the environment.
Over the years, “Naked and Afraid” has expanded to include various spin-offs, such as “Naked and Afraid XL,” “Naked and Afraid: Alone,” and “Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing,” each offering unique survival challenges.
In a groundbreaking moment, the show featured Mandy Horvath, the first bilateral amputee to participate. After losing both legs in a train accident, Mandy summited Mount Kilimanjaro and later took on the survival challenge in Belize’s jungle, highlighting resilience and empowerment.
The latest season of “Naked and Afraid” premiered on March 9, 2025, introducing new survivalists and environments.
