The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) houses the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection, which includes all U.S. government records related to President Kennedy’s assassination in 1963. Established by the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992, this collection aims to ensure transparency and public access to pertinent historical documents.
In 2023, NARA initiated a project to digitize all records in this collection, prioritizing their online availability. As of early 2025, over 700,000 pages have been digitized, with ongoing efforts to complete the process.
These records can be accessed online through the National Archives Catalog.
On March 18, 2025, the Trump administration released approximately 80,000 previously classified documents pertaining to the assassination. These files, now available both online and in-person at the National Archives at College Park, Maryland, provide additional insights into the events surrounding President Kennedy’s death.
Researchers and the public can explore these materials to gain a comprehensive understanding of the circumstances surrounding President Kennedy’s assassination.
