Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, known professionally as YoungBoy Never Broke Again (NBA YoungBoy), is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter born on October 20, 1999, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He gained prominence in the mid-2010s with a series of mixtapes that showcased his raw and emotive style.​

His debut studio album, Until Death Call My Name (2018), peaked at number seven on the US Billboard 200. He achieved further success with projects like AI YoungBoy 2 (2019) and Top (2020), both of which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.

In 2021, his third album, Sincerely, Kentrell, also reached the top position, making him one of the few artists to have multiple chart-topping albums while incarcerated.

As of March 2025, NBA YoungBoy is serving a 27-month sentence in federal prison for gun possession as a convicted felon. His release date has been moved up to April 26, 2025, three months earlier than previously expected.

Despite his incarceration, NBA YoungBoy’s influence remains significant. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recognized him as the most successful rapper of the decade, highlighting his impact on the music industry.
