Nick Ball is an English professional boxer born on February 28, 1997, in Kirkby, Merseyside, England. Standing 5 feet 2 inches tall, he competes in the featherweight division and is known by the nickname “The Wrecking Ball.” Ball has an orthodox fighting style and, as of March 2025, holds an undefeated record of 22 wins and 1 draw, with 13 of those victories coming by knockout.
Ball began his professional career in 2017 and quickly rose through the ranks. In March 2024, he faced WBC featherweight champion Rey Vargas in a bout that ended in a split draw, with Vargas retaining his title. Later that year, in June, Ball clinched the WBA featherweight title by defeating Raymond Ford by split decision in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
On October 5, 2024, Ball made his first title defense in his hometown of Liverpool, stopping Ronny Rios in the 10th round after Rios’ corner threw in the towel. His second defense took place on March 15, 2025, against former world champion TJ Doheny. The fight was marked by early tensions, including an incident where Ball kicked Doheny during a scuffle. Despite this, Ball’s relentless pressure led to Doheny’s corner stopping the fight in the 10th round, resulting in a victory for Ball.
Promoter Frank Warren has indicated that Ball will not wait for Naoya Inoue to move up to featherweight and will continue to pursue other opportunities.
