RJ Luis Jr. is a 6-foot-7-inch, 215-pound junior guard for the St. John’s Red Storm men’s basketball team. Born on November 27, 2002, in Miami, Florida, he began his collegiate career at the University of Massachusetts (UMass) before transferring to St. John’s in 2023.
In his freshman year at UMass (2022–2023), Luis averaged 11.5 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.1 steals per game, earning a spot on the Atlantic 10 All-Freshman Team. After transferring to St. John’s, he made an immediate impact. In the 2024–2025 season, Luis averaged 18.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game, shooting 44.6% from the field.
His outstanding performance led to several accolades, including being named Big East Player of the Year—the first St. John’s player to receive this honor since 1986. He was also selected for the All-Big East First Team and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Big East Tournament.
