Royce Lewis is a professional baseball player who plays as a third baseman and shortstop for the Minnesota Twins. Born on June 5, 1999, in Aliso Viejo, California, he was the first overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft, selected by the Twins.

Lewis made his MLB debut on May 6, 2022. He showcased his power early, hitting a grand slam for his first career home run on May 13, 2022. However, his career has been marred by injuries. In May 2022, he tore the ACL in his right knee, leading to season-ending surgery. He re-tore the same ACL in May 2023, resulting in another surgery and a prolonged absence from the game.

In his return to action in 2023, Lewis made an immediate impact. He hit grand slams in consecutive games in August, setting a Twins franchise record with four grand slams that season. He also tied the franchise record for postseason home runs with four, matching Kirby Puckett’s record.

Unfortunately, Lewis’s injury woes continued. On March 16, 2025, during a spring training game, he exited due to a left hamstring strain. He is scheduled for further evaluation, including an MRI, to assess the severity of the injury.

Off the field, Lewis maintains an active presence on social media, sharing aspects of his personal life and faith with his followers. His Instagram account, @roycelewis, has garnered over 41,000 followers.
