santiago giménez

Santiago Giménez is a professional footballer who plays as a forward for AC Milan and the Mexico national team. Born on April 18, 2001, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he moved to Mexico at the age of three. He is the son of former footballer Christian Giménez and has Italian ancestry through his mother.

Club Career:

  • Cruz Azul (2017–2022): Giménez began his professional career with Cruz Azul in Mexico’s Liga MX. He made his debut in 2017 and scored his first goal in 2020. During his time there, he won several titles, including the Liga MX championship in 2021. ​
  • Feyenoord (2022–2025): In July 2022, Giménez transferred to Feyenoord in the Netherlands’ Eredivisie. He had a successful stint, helping the team secure the league title in the 2022–2023 season and winning the KNVB Cup in the 2023–2024 season. He scored 45 goals in 73 appearances, becoming Mexico’s all-time top scorer in the Eredivisie. ​
  • AC Milan (2025–Present): In February 2025, Giménez signed with AC Milan for €32 million. He made an immediate impact, providing an assist in his debut match and scoring his first goal in a Serie A win over Empoli. He also netted a goal in a Champions League match against his former team, Feyenoord.

International Career:

Giménez has represented Mexico since 2021, earning 33 caps and scoring four goals. He was pivotal in Mexico’s victory at the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup, scoring the winning goal in the final. He also contributed to the team’s runner-up finish in the 2024 CONCACAF Nations League.
