Sauce Walka, born Albert Walker Mondane on June 29, 1990, in Houston, Texas, is a prominent American rapper and songwriter known for his influential role in the Southern hip-hop scene. He began his music career in 2007 as part of the group Mostheard, later gaining prominence as a solo artist.
In 2014, he co-founded the duo Sauce Twinz with Sancho Saucy, and the following year, established his independent record label, The Sauce Factory. Walka is credited with popularizing the term “drip” in hip-hop culture, referring to a distinctive sense of style and swagger.
Throughout his career, Sauce Walka has collaborated with notable artists such as A$AP Rocky, Bun B, Chief Keef, Lil’ Keke, Maxo Kream, Migos, Slim Thug, Travis Scott, Trinidad James, and XXXTentacion. His discography includes several mixtapes, with “In Sauce We Trust” (2014) and “The Saucefather” (2017) being among his most recognized works.
On March 22, 2025, reports emerged that Sauce Walka was shot in Memphis, Tennessee, while visiting the city with his artist, Sayso P. The incident occurred near the FedExForum, resulting in Walka sustaining a gunshot wound to the thigh.
His father, Albert Walker, confirmed that his son was coherent and expected to recover fully. Tragically, Sayso P was killed during the incident.
