Scott Peterson is an American man convicted of murdering his pregnant wife, Laci Peterson, and their unborn son, Conner, in 2002. The case garnered significant media attention, partly due to the circumstances surrounding Laci’s disappearance and the subsequent investigation.
In 2004, Peterson was convicted of two counts of murder and initially sentenced to death. However, in August 2020, the California Supreme Court overturned his death sentence, citing errors in jury selection during the penalty phase. His conviction was upheld, and he remains incarcerated at Mule Creek State Prison in California, serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
Recently, on March 9, 2025, Peterson was involved in an altercation at the prison during a pickleball game, resulting in minor injuries. He did not require hospitalization following the incident.
In August 2024, Peterson participated in a documentary series titled “Face to Face with Scott Peterson,” where he maintained his innocence and discussed his perspective on the case. The series also highlighted efforts by the Los Angeles Innocence Project to secure a new trial, citing potential constitutional violations during the original proceedings.
