Saint Joseph’s University (SJU) has active men’s and women’s basketball programs. The men’s team, known as the Saint Joseph’s Hawks, competes in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The women’s team participates in the Atlantic 10 Conference as well.
Men’s Basketball Team:
In the 2024-2025 season, the Hawks finished with a 22-13 overall record and an 11-7 conference record, placing them fifth in the Atlantic 10 standings. Their postseason run included a victory over La Salle in the second round of the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament, with Xzayvier Brown contributing 21 points.
However, their journey ended with a 69-65 loss to UAB in the NIT, where Yaxel Lendeborg led UAB with 16 points and 17 rebounds.
Women’s Basketball Team:
The women’s team has also achieved notable successes. They secured their second consecutive Big 5 Championship with an 82-68 victory over La Salle in December 2024. Talya Brugler’s standout performance, scoring 29 points, was instrumental in this win.
Additionally, they achieved a significant 84-70 win against Syracuse in November 2024, with Brugler and Mackenzie Smith combining for 54 points.
