skadden

Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP is a prominent American multinational law firm headquartered in New York City. Established in 1948, the firm has grown to approximately 1,700 attorneys across 21 offices worldwide.

Recently, Skadden agreed to provide $100 million in pro bono legal services to initiatives supported by President Donald Trump’s administration. This decision was made to avoid potential punitive measures from the administration, which has targeted law firms associated with Trump’s political opponents.

This move has sparked internal concerns within the firm. Some associates view the agreement as a departure from Skadden’s traditional commitment to inclusion and legal principles. At least two staff attorneys have resigned, criticizing the deal as a betrayal.

In contrast, other law firms have chosen to resist the administration’s pressures. Firms like Perkins Coie and Jenner & Block are actively challenging executive orders in court, achieving temporary restraining orders against actions they deem unconstitutional.
