Sir Stephen Fry, born on August 24, 1957, in London, England, is a distinguished actor, comedian, writer, and broadcaster. He gained prominence as part of the comedy duo Fry and Laurie alongside Hugh Laurie, with notable works like “A Bit of Fry & Laurie” and “Jeeves and Wooster.” Fry also appeared in the “Blackadder” series, portraying Lord Melchett.

In film, Fry’s performances include playing Oscar Wilde in “Wilde” (1997), a role that earned him a Golden Globe nomination. He also appeared in “Gosford Park” (2001), “V for Vendetta” (2005), and “The Hobbit” film series (2012–2014).

From 2003 to 2016, Fry hosted the BBC quiz show “QI,” earning six British Academy Television Award nominations. He has also written several novels and autobiographies, and lent his voice to the UK audiobook editions of the “Harry Potter” series. ​
