Syracuse University (SU) has a storied basketball program with both men’s and women’s teams competing at the highest levels.
Men’s Basketball:
The 2024–25 Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team, under the guidance of second-year head coach Adrian Autry, faced a challenging season. They concluded the regular season with a 14–19 overall record and a 7–13 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play. This performance placed them 11th in the ACC standings.
As a result, Syracuse did not receive an invitation to the NCAA tournament. They were also eligible for the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) but chose not to participate.
Women’s Basketball:
The 2023–24 Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team, led by second-year head coach Felisha Legette-Jack, had a remarkable season. They finished with a 24–8 overall record and a 13–5 conference record in the ACC, tying for second place.
Their impressive performance earned them an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, marking their first appearance since 2021. The team secured a victory over Arizona in the First Round but fell to Connecticut in the Second Round, ending their tournament run.
