Tommy Edman is an American professional baseball utility player for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Born on May 9, 1995, in Pontiac, Michigan, he was raised in San Diego, California. Edman played college baseball at Stanford University before being selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the sixth round of the 2016 MLB Draft. He made his MLB debut with the Cardinals in 2019, quickly establishing himself as a versatile player capable of handling multiple infield and outfield positions. In 2021, Edman earned a Gold Glove Award as the National League’s top defensive second baseman. ​

At the 2024 trade deadline, Edman was acquired by the Dodgers in a three-team deal. He played a pivotal role in the Dodgers’ postseason success, earning National League Championship Series (NLCS) MVP honors by hitting .407 with a home run and 11 RBIs, including a crucial two-run homer in Game 6 against the New York Mets. The Dodgers went on to win the World Series that year, securing Edman’s first championship title.

In November 2024, Edman signed a five-year, $74 million contract extension with the Dodgers, ensuring his presence with the team through at least 2029. ​

As of March 30, 2025, Edman continues to contribute to the Dodgers’ success, including a strong performance in their 7-3 victory over the Detroit Tigers, where he hit a home run.
