The Trump administration is reportedly considering a new travel ban affecting citizens from 41 countries. According to a leaked memo and sources familiar with the matter, the proposal categorizes these countries into three groups:
- Group One: Countries facing a full visa suspension, including Afghanistan, Iran, North Korea, and Venezuela.
- Group Two: Countries with partial visa suspensions affecting tourist, student, and other visas, such as Eritrea, Haiti, and Myanmar.
- Group Three: Countries that could face partial suspensions unless they address specific deficiencies within 60 days, including Angola, Belarus, and Pakistan.
This proposal follows an executive order issued by President Trump on January 20, 2025, mandating tighter security vetting for foreign nationals entering the U.S. The list of countries and the policy are still under review and require approval from administration officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
