Truth Social is a social media platform launched by the Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) in February 2022. It was created following former President Donald Trump’s suspension from major platforms like Facebook and Twitter after the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack. Trump’s first post on Truth Social was made on February 16, 2022.

As of March 10, 2025, amid global stock market declines and recession fears in the U.S., Trump made over 100 posts on Truth Social. These posts included articles praising his policies and various other topics, such as the arrest of pro-Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil.

Despite ongoing legal challenges, including charges related to the 2020 Presidential election, Trump has continued to use Truth Social to express his views. In August 2023, he posted a message stating, “IF YOU GO AFTER ME, I’M COMING AFTER YOU!”, which prosecutors interpreted as a threat, leading to a protective order against him.

Additionally, Trump has utilized mainstream media references within his Truth Social posts. Notably, since his inauguration, nearly half of the media companies he cited are Murdoch-owned, and 17% are mainstream outlets, including some he is suing or has banned. This strategy highlights his reliance on traditional media for credibility while maintaining a presence on his platform.
