The University of North Carolina (UNC) Tar Heels men’s basketball team is a storied program with a rich history in collegiate basketball. They have secured six NCAA championships (1957, 1982, 1993, 2005, 2009, and 2017), placing them among the most successful teams in the sport. In the 2023–24 season, the Tar Heels finished with a 29–8 record, claiming the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) regular-season title with a 17–3 conference record. They advanced to the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA tournament before their season concluded.

As of March 14, 2025, the Tar Heels are competing in the ACC Tournament. They secured a decisive 76–56 victory over Notre Dame in their opening game.
