The Utah Hockey Club is a professional ice hockey team based in Salt Lake City, competing in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Western Conference’s Central Division. Established in April 2024, the team began its inaugural season in the 2024–25 NHL campaign. Home games are played at the Delta Center, shared with the NBA’s Utah Jazz.

Team Identity and Branding

Initially, the team played under the temporary name “Utah” with a basic logo and color scheme. Through a fan-driven process, the franchise selected “Utah Hockey Club” as its official name on June 13, 2024. The primary logo features a roundel with “Utah” at its center, surrounded by “Hockey Club,” utilizing the team’s colors: rock black, salt white, and mountain blue. The home uniform is black with a diagonal “UTAH” wordmark, while the road uniform is white with black and blue striping.

Recent Performance

As of March 19, 2025, the Utah Hockey Club faced a 7-1 defeat against the Edmonton Oilers. This loss marked their most significant margin in the inaugural season.

Despite this setback, the team remains competitive, holding a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks on March 13, keeping them in contention for a Western Conference wild-card spot.

Ownership and Management

The team is owned by Ryan Smith and his wife Ashley Smith through their company, Smith Entertainment Group. Ryan Smith is also the owner of the Utah Jazz. Bill Armstrong serves as the general manager, and Andre Tourigny is the head coach.

Mascot

Jazz Bear, the mascot of the Utah Jazz, also represents the Utah Hockey Club during their inaugural season.
