Utah Tech University, located in St. George, Utah, competes in NCAA Division I basketball as a member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). The university’s athletic teams are known as the Trailblazers.
Men’s Basketball:
In the 2024–25 season, the Utah Tech Trailblazers men’s basketball team finished with a 6–23 overall record and a 2–12 mark in WAC play, placing them ninth in the conference standings. This record earned them a spot in the 2025 WAC men’s basketball tournament. In the first round, they secured a 72–65 victory over Southern Utah at Burns Arena in St. George, Utah. However, in the quarterfinals at the Orleans Arena in Paradise, Nevada, they faced a challenging matchup against top-seeded Utah Valley and were eliminated from the tournament.
Women’s Basketball:
The 2023–24 Utah Tech Trailblazers women’s basketball team concluded their season with an 18–14 overall record and a 12–8 record in WAC play, finishing fifth in the conference. They participated in the WAC tournament but were eliminated before reaching the championship game.
Notably, the 2023–24 season marked Utah Tech’s final year of a four-year transition period from NCAA Division II to Division I. As a result, while the teams were eligible for the WAC tournament, they were not eligible for NCAA tournament play during this transition period.
