victoria spartz

Victoria Spartz is a Ukrainian-born American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Indiana’s 5th Congressional District. Born on October 6, 1978, in Nosivka, Ukraine, she immigrated to the United States in 2000 and became a U.S. citizen in 2006. Spartz earned a Bachelor of Science and an MBA from Kyiv National Economic University, and a Master of Accountancy from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.

Before her congressional tenure, Spartz served in the Indiana Senate from 2017 to 2020, representing the 20th district. She was appointed following Luke Kenley’s resignation and served until she assumed her congressional seat.

In the U.S. House, Spartz was first elected in 2020, defeating Democrat Christina Hale in a competitive race. She was reelected in 2022, overcoming Democrat Jeanine Lee Lake. In December 2024, Spartz announced she would leave the House Republican Conference due to concerns about congressional governance but remained within the Republican Party.

On March 28, 2025, Spartz held a town hall in Westfield, Indiana, where she faced significant constituent backlash. Attendees voiced strong disapproval of federal spending cuts advocated by President Donald Trump and supported by Spartz, leading to a tense atmosphere with interruptions and many walking out before the meeting concluded.

Despite the challenges, Spartz completed the full two-hour session, expressing a commitment to maintaining open dialogue with constituents.
