The Virginia Cavaliers men’s basketball team concluded their 2024–2025 season with a 14–15 overall record and a 7–11 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play. This season was marked by significant transitions, including the retirement of longtime head coach Tony Bennett in October 2024. Interim head coach Ron Sanchez led the team through these changes.
In the ACC tournament, Virginia faced Georgia Tech in the second round but fell 66–60. Despite Isaac McKneely’s impressive 27-point performance, the team struggled with rebounding and shooting efficiency, leading to their early exit from the tournament.
On the women’s side, the Virginia Cavaliers finished the 2023–2024 season with a 16–16 record, including a 7–11 ACC record. Under second-year head coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton, the team secured a spot in the inaugural Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament (WBIT), where they advanced to the second round before concluding their season.
