Volkan Konak (27 February 1967 – 31 March 2025) was a renowned Turkish folk singer known for his deep connection to the Black Sea region’s musical traditions. Born in Maçka, Turkey, he pursued formal music education at the Istanbul Technical University State Conservatory, graduating in 1988. His career spanned several decades, during which he released numerous albums, including “Mora” in 2006, which earned a gold plaque from the Turkish recording producers association, MÜ-YAP.
Beyond his musical achievements, Konak was deeply committed to social causes. He was particularly passionate about education, providing scholarships to students in need. In the 2012–2013 academic year, he awarded scholarships to 63 students, expressing his goal to increase this number to 100 in the future.
On the evening of March 30, 2025, during a concert in Famagusta, Cyprus, Konak collapsed on stage and was subsequently pronounced dead at a local hospital. His untimely passing at the age of 58 was a significant loss to the Turkish music community and his fans worldwide.
