Wheesung, born Choi Whee-sung on February 5, 1982, in Seoul, South Korea, was a distinguished singer-songwriter, record producer, and musical theatre actor, renowned for his contributions to R&B and K-pop music. He began his career in 1999 with the boy band A4 but left after their debut album due to musical differences. He launched his solo career in 2002 with the album “Like a Movie,” which received acclaim from prominent artists like Seo Taiji and Shin Seung Hun.
Over his career, Wheesung released several successful albums, including “It’s Real” (2003), “For the Moment” (2004), and “Love… Love…? Love…!” (2005). In 2008, he established his own label, Realslow Company, and continued his musical endeavors under the stage name Realslow. Wheesung’s influence extended beyond music; he served as a judge on the 2014 television program “NO.MERCY” and made appearances on shows like “Weekly Idol” and “I Can See Your Voice.” On March 10, 2025, Wheesung tragically passed away at the age of 43 in Gwangjin, Seoul, South Korea.
