WMUR-TV is an ABC-affiliated television station licensed to Manchester, New Hampshire, serving most of the state. Owned by Hearst Television, WMUR-TV broadcasts on virtual and VHF digital channel 9. The station’s studios are located on South Commercial Street in downtown Manchester, and its transmitter is situated on the south peak of Mount Uncanoonuc in Goffstown.

The station was founded by former New Hampshire Governor Francis P. Murphy, with the call sign WMUR reflecting his initials. WMUR-TV signed on the air on March 28, 1954, and has since been the state’s primary source for ABC network programming.

In addition to national ABC content, WMUR-TV produces several locally focused programs, including:

  • New Hampshire Chronicle: A regional newsmagazine series airing weeknights at 7 p.m.
  • Close Up: A political talk program broadcast on Sundays at 10 a.m.

The station also provides extensive coverage during election seasons, organizing and producing candidate debates for ABC News and CNN before the first United States presidential primary. These debates are often held at Saint Anselm College.
