Zach Edey is a Canadian professional basketball player who currently plays as a center for the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA. Standing at 7 feet 4 inches, he is the tallest active NBA player. Edey began his college career with the Purdue Boilermakers in 2020 and played four seasons there. Over his collegiate career, he achieved several accolades, including being named the National Player of the Year in 2023 and 2024.

In the 2023–2024 season, Edey led the NCAA in scoring with an average of 25.2 points per game. He also contributed 12.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.2 blocks per game, while shooting 62.5% from the field and 71.1% from the free-throw line.

Edey was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies with the ninth overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. He signed with the team on July 6, 2024, and made his NBA debut on October 23, 2024, recording five points and five rebounds in 15 minutes of play. He became the first rookie in NBA history to foul out in 15 minutes or less during their debut game.

As of November 18, 2024, Edey was averaging 11.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.0 block per game over 14 games (nine starts) for the Grizzlies. However, he exited a game against the Denver Nuggets due to a left ankle injury.

On December 27, 2024, Edey recorded a double-double with 21 points and 16 rebounds in a franchise-record 155-126 victory against the Toronto Raptors.
