Zach Ertz is a professional American football tight end currently playing for the Washington Commanders in the NFL. Born on November 10, 1990, in Orange, California, he grew up in Danville and attended Monte Vista High School. Ertz played college football at Stanford University from 2009 to 2012, earning unanimous All-American honors in 2012.

In the 2013 NFL Draft, Ertz was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round (35th overall). He spent nine seasons with the Eagles, earning three Pro Bowl selections (2017–2019) and winning Super Bowl LII in 2018. In that Super Bowl, Ertz recorded 67 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Ertz later played for the Arizona Cardinals and Detroit Lions before joining the Washington Commanders in March 2024 on a one-year contract. His performance was instrumental in the Commanders’ advancement to the NFC Championship game.

In March 2025, Ertz re-signed with the Commanders on a one-year deal worth up to $9 million. This contract reflects his value to the team following his successful previous season.

Off the field, Ertz is married to Julie Ertz, a professional soccer player for the U.S. women’s national team. The couple has two children, a son born in August 2022 and twin sons born in August 2024.
